Help light the Tree of Lights

Place a light of love on the Tree of Lights

Dear Friends,

The season of remembering and celebrating the lives of special people is upon us. I’ll be remembering my Dad, who died of cancer when I was a senior in high school, by placing a light of love on Hospice of Santa Cruz County’s Tree of Lights.

My Dad’s last months of life were spent under the safe haven of Hospice care. As his illness progressed and he couldn’t leave the house, the Hospice staff and volunteers were there, truly going above and beyond what my Mom and I expected. It was such a stressful time and they helped me to deal with the anxiety and frustration I felt as my Dad was dying. Everyone was warm, compassionate and reliable. They listened and responded not only to what my dad needed, but to what we all needed.

I was surprised to learn that each day our local Hospice cares for over 130 patients and their families. They also help those who are seriously ill but not ready for Hospice care and provide grief support to hundreds of members of our community. I want to make sure that this care is available for all who may need it and the donations from Tree of Lights help to make that possible.

Would you join me in placing a symbolic light both in remembrance of the "lights" of your life and in gratitude for the wonderful work that Hospice does in our community? Our lights will join together in honoring our loved ones and making sure that families can receive compassionate support at this precious time of life.

Sincerely,

Laura Donovan
